SUMMARY:Low Key Model Shoot - Rollerderby Theme
DESCRIPTION:Note:  The photos are just a sample for various poses! \nWe have scheduled a Low-Key photoshoot with a Roller Skate theme.  A model will be brought in for this shoot to be held at the Caledonia Fairgrounds. \nThe room will be setup with a Black backdrop\, two side lights with soft boxes and an over head light with a soft box.  We will have a few extra lights for added effect if needed. \nWe are asking photographers attending this event to be there for 6:30 pm\, at which time we will go through the equipment set up\, discussing different poses possible within the set up.  We will also review the settings and how to initially set up your camera to capture the low key.  For this shoot we may also look at moving lights around if needed.  You will also be able to direct the model into poses that you would like to capture in your photograph. \n  \nYou will need the following equipment: \n\nCamera – must be able to shoot in manual mode.\nWireless Strobe Trigger – must be able to program to different channels and settings. SUMMARY:Learning to Master Our Digital Cameras - Introduction
DESCRIPTION:The Learning Problem: \n\n\n\nModern digital cameras have been engineered to produce the best images possible with the least amount of input from the photographer. While this approach produces excellent results for snap shooters\, these cameras can present a challenge when a photographer wishes to make the decisions rather than letting the camera do its thing. The photographer is then presented with “the Black Box” problem as the controls they need to use aren’t obvious or readily accessible. \n\n\n\nThe Learning Objective:  \n\n\n\nBy the end of the session\, our club members will have learned how to crack open the Black Box and make use of aperture\, shutter speed\, ISO\, white balance\, exposure compensation\, plus they will have an understanding of how the light meter and auto focus functions. With this understanding they will be able to access and use the functions in the command dial PSAM to full control their cameras. \n\n\n\nOutline: \n\n\n\n\nExamine the Black Box Problem\n\n\n\nThe basics of how a digital camera works – lens\, sensor\, processor\, storage.\n\n\n\nAperture and Shutter Speed – these will be presented via a camera mounted on a tripod and the results from sample shots of the group will be put on the screen so that the members will understand what these controls are\, how they work\, and what they produce. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nISO sensitivity\, the basics of signal to noise using samples from the tripod mounted camera. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nWhite balance\, colour temperature\, artificial light using samples from the tripod mounted camera. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nLight meters and the metering problem using samples from the tripod mounted camera. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nExposure Compensation and how we can use it to deal with the metering problem using samples from the tripod mounted camera. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nAuto focus modes and how/when to use manual focus. Members will be encouraged to find this functionality on their cameras.\n\n\n\nExercise to try out the PSAM dial\, white balance\, exposure compensation\, and focus modes.\n\n\n\nWrap up.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t forget to bring your camera as this is a hands on course. You will practice what you learn during this course! DESCRIPTION:Before editing ( as is from Camera)\, Picture below is after editing\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovembers monthly meeting\, we will be covering the basic Photo Editing Techniques. Such as cropping\, straightening\, sharpening\, colour\, healing brush and so much more. For this workshop we will be using Photoshop as our editing program. Please keep in mind that most editing software have many similar editing features. An image or 2 will be provided so that the group can follow along using the same image as we work with each edits. If you have a laptop I would encourage you to bring it along. If you have Photoshop (PS)\, great. If you do not have PS you can sign up for the 7 day trial for free. Try to get the free trial a day or so before the meeting for it does expire after 7 days. You should be able to follow along if you are using another editing program\, we will have a couple of extra people to help if you are using your own program… \n\n\n\nDon’t Forget to bring your laptop with the software you are using or down load Photoshop free 7 day trial two days before the meeting! \n\n\n\nWith edits we turn ordinary into extraordinary. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30 pm\, Riverside Building. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the workshop is free for our members and a cost of $20.00 for Non-Members. SUMMARY:Last Minute HPC Photo Excursion - Hamilton Mounted Police Unit
DESCRIPTION:  \nHamilton Police Mounted Unit\, 2-4 officers riding Police horses. \nThe farm is located on 100 acres\, most of which is forest with trails running through it. The Mounted Unit also has a large indoor ring which can be used if the weather does not cooperate for outdoor shooting. We are hoping to be outside and go into the forest area with coloured leaf foliage and the horses providing a contrast look with lots of options available. \n  \nMaximum of 10 photographers. SUMMARY:Monte Carlo Charity Fun Night
DESCRIPTION:Screenshot\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have been asked to participate in a fund raiser in Caledonia\, by operating the Photo Booth for the Monte Carlo Charity Fun Night.  Proceeds raised at this event will be used to build a Hospice in Norfolk Haldimand Community. For our part we will have a photo booth set up at the entrance\, backdrop provided by the organization.  We will provide the lighting\, take photos of the participants as they enter the event.  The photos taken will be turned over to the organizers to distribute.  We are looking for two to three photographers to assist with setting up\, taking photos\, recording data and tearing down.  This is a great opportunity for those that are interested in learning more about setting up portrait pictures using backdrop and lighting \n\n\n\nThe event takes place on Saturday October 5th\, 2024 at Caledonia Lions Hall.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and we should be done by 8:30 pm. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested please contact Randy Carter at rlcarter653@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Summer’s Best! September Monthly Meeting...
DESCRIPTION:For our September meeting we are asking members to submit 3 images into our Dropbox “Summers Best Photos” folder ( click on this link to upload – https://www.dropbox.com/request/OvclpB9qZcYyr72MfYQw ).  The images will be critiqued by our distinguished panel of judges and the attending members.  The goal for this meeting is to showcase our member’s work and have it commented on in terms of technical (composition\, exposure\, etc.) and narrative qualities. \n\n\n\nThis is not intended as a critique but as feedback and constructive input into how the image resonates with viewers\, and where desired\, how it can be modified / improved on.  The panel will comment on style and impact\, technical and artistic value. \n\n\n\nWe’ve been busy taking photographs for most of the year\, and it would be great to see a spectrum of everyone’s work to illustrate / share our progress\, and it will also help improve our skills.    \n\n\n\nThe subject matter is unrestricted\, but please have some consideration to the nature of the crowd and error on the side of good taste.  If time permits (based on the number of images submitted)\, we will have a general discussion on events/speakers/workshops that members would like to see happen.  Please register for this meeting so that we will have an idea of how many members will be attending and submitting photographs.

DESCRIPTION:Photograph by Sue Jane Glover\n\n\n\nPhotograph by Sue Jane Glover\n\n\n\nPhotograph by Sue Jane Glover\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have our meeting room at the Fairgrounds booked on July 11th\, 2024\, and turning into a studio.  We will be setting up the lights to do “Still Life Photography”.   We will have a few props that we can set up\, but everyone is encouraged to bring props that you would like to set up and take photos. \n\n\n\nAs mentioned\, we will provide some items that can be used as props\, backdrop (black)\, lights with soft box.  Our light system uses Godox triggers and we do have members that have the following Godox triggers\, Nikon\, Sony (we have a spare Sony)\, and Cannon. \n\n\n\nIf there is something special that you would like to use and set up for the Still Life Photo\, please feel free to bring it and we can help you set it up.  This will be a great experience in learning how to set up and shoot a Still Life Photograph.

SUMMARY:Available Light Workshop at St. Albans Church in Rockton
DESCRIPTION:Note:  This workshop has been CANCELLED and we will look at rescheduling in the Fall if there is more interest at that time! \n\n\n\nWe have booked a morning session at a quaint church in Rockton that was originally Anglican but is now managed by the Friends of St. Alban’s.  It has no electricity but has a functioning bell\, pump organ\, and original plaster walls.  There are 3 stained glass windows (faith\, hope\, and charity).  It is surrounded by a cemetery.  This is a great opportunity to come out and learn how to shoot with available light. Peter Charles will be leading the workshop and he will discuss camera settings and how to shoot with available light both inside the church and outside. The money collected will be used to donate to the church organization for allowing us to use it. Please note that we currently have reserved at table for 12 at the Cookhouse Bistro in Rockton (restaurant is located across the street from the church)\, for 12:00 pm (Noon). SUMMARY:June Photography Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Your club is offering a photo challenge to all members. For a two-week period capture one or two photos from your town that you think is distinctive to that town. Use your imagination to compose a unique shot. The subject can be landscape\, architectural\, animal\, day\, night or whatever direction your artistic eye takes you. The hope is to get enough photos submitted that we could have a slide show in the fall\, and you can tell why and where the shot was taken. \n\n\n\nTony has created a drop box just for this challenge\, so no one will see the submitted photos until the slide show.
